THE crime-busting success of Teignmouth police has been recognised.

The officers received an award from the assistant chief constable, Sharon Taylor, at a ceremony at the Lakeside Conference Centre, Lewdown.

Police, Neighbourhood Watch representatives and partner agencies from around the area were there, to mark the achievements of individuals and groups who have worked to reduce crime on their patch, and improve the quality of life for residents.

Teignmouth police were given the Community Support Award for 'outstanding commitment and support of the development of Neighbourhood Watch, the improvement in quality of life, and reduction of fear of crime, and increased public reassurance.'

Local police chief Inspector Chris Shaw said: 'I am very proud of the team. This award is recognition of all the effort they have put in over the year.'
