FOUR young cricketers from south Devon have been selected to tour South Africa with a Devon Under-15 squad in February.

Packing their bags are 14-year-olds Elliott Adams and Sam Carpenter, from Newton Abbot, Chudleigh lad Sam Taylor and Sam Woodcock from Paignton.

The quartet are currently drumming up support from local businesses to help sponsor their dream adventure.

Each needs to persuade sponsors to part with nearly £3,000 so the dream tour can be a reality.

Altogether 14 are hoping to make the trip in just a few months’ time.

Elliott is a right-arm medium pace bowler and batsman, playing for Abbotskerswell.

Sam Taylor swings a mean bat for Bovey Tracey and keeps wicket.

Sam Woodcock dismisses batsmen at regular intervals with spin at Paignton while Sam Carpenter spins and bats for Torquay.

Anyone interested in helping out the boys can contact Elliott’s mum on [email protected] or ring her on 07808 413656.

Any forthcoming sponsorship would be split equally among the four.
