A TEIGNMOUTH man has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.
Jordan Papanicolaou, 26, of Thornley Drive, admitted breaching a community order and was sentenced for the original offence of assault.
Papanicolaou admitted, without reasonable excuse, failing to comply with a community requirement of a suspended sentence imposed by Exeter Magistrates Court on July 11 2022.
He failed to attend pre-arranged appointments and to produce evidence top substantiate a reasonable excuse for the absences.
The original offence was that on August 22 2021 in Torquay, he assaulted a woman.
The sentence then imposed by North and East Devon magistrates was of imprisonment suspended for 12 months.
For failing to comply with the community order, the court implemented a prison sentence by served by Papanicolaou of 14 weeks.
Papanicolaou also pleaded guilty to theft on August 14 2022 of watermelon flavoured vodka to the value of £34.49 belonging to the Family Store in Torquay.
The court imposed a further sentence of committal to prison for two weeks to run consecutively as the offence was committed during the period of a suspended sentence.
The total prison term was 16 weeks.
