A TEENAGER has been warned he faces a jail sentence after he admitted attacking his ex-partner and holding her against her will.
Riley Northcott, aged 19, of Moorland Gate, Heathfield, near Newton Abbot, pleaded guilty to five charges when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
The most serious is putting his former partner in fear of violence by harassment between May 4 and 7 last year.
He admitted threatenening her with physical and sexual assault and preventing her leaving his property.
Northcott also admitted four counts of assault by battery, all of which took place during the same three days as the harassment.
Judge David Evans adjourned sentence until Monday, March 26 and released Northcott on conditional bail.
He told him: ’You need to understand that a prison sentence is likely. The fact that I am adjourning sentence does not give any indication. You should put your affairs in order in expectation of an immediate prison sentence.’
Mr William Parkhill, defending, said Northcott is still only 19 and has a history which gives a cause for concern and means a full probation pre-sentence report would be helpful.
He said he has a previous conviction for sending a malicious communication to a previous ex partner in 2016 and is currently subject of a community order.
Mr Tom Bradnock, prosecuting, said there is already a restraining order forbidding any contact with the victim of these offences and a bail requirement not to enter Exeter other than to attend court.
Northcott denied a further charge of false imprisonment and Mr Bradnock said this will not be pursued further.
