A man is to face trial accused of going into a woman’s home with the intention of carrying out a sexual assault.

Christopher Kelly is also accused of robbing the woman and causing her actual bodily harm during the incident at a house near Tiverton in October.

Kelly, aged 47, of Church Road, Newton Abbot, pleaded not guilty to trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence at a property in Halberton, near Tiverton, on October 30, 2016.

He also denied robbery, assault on a woman which caused actual bodily harm, threatening another person at the house with a knife and assaulting them.

Kelly pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a double glazed window at the house and to possession of cannabis on October 31.

He appeared at Exeter Crown Court by video link from Exeter Prison and Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, remanded him in custody until his trial on March 15, 2017.
