TEIGNMOUTH traders are furious after their signs directing tourists to the town centre and seafront were ripped down by a council. And a leading councillor said he had been left 'speechless' by the action of Devon County Council. The traders decided to help themselves after years of lobbying for better signage to the heart of the town came to nothing. They erected three large direction banners with scenic pictures of beauty spots, at the bottom of Exeter Hill, the station roundabout and the Shaldon Bridge junction. But the county council ruled they did not comply with regulations, and removed the two in the town – the one at the bridge is under the control of Teignbridge Council, which has taken no action.
