PENNS Mount developers have submitted a planning application to permit building on green open space atop the ‘iconic’ Kingsteignton hill.

Codex Land Promotion, which was granted outline permission for up to 80 homes at the site in December 2014, has applied for a variation on one of the conditions attached by Teignbridge Council.

Condition 24, in reference to the Teignbridge Local Plan, is that an area of five hectares should be left green and undeveloped at the top of the hill.

Codex has applied for a variation on this condition, stating that an access road is necessary to avoid the area becoming ‘land locked’ and it will not affect views of the site.
