A PLAN to operate the Shaldon ferry temporarily during the festive period has been scuppered.
Teignmouth town and Shaldon parish councils combined to try to find a way to run the crossing between Christmas and new year after the service closed more than a month ago when the lessee, James Trout, quit saying it was no longer economic to continue.
But despite valiant efforts to make it happen, councillors found there were just too many stumbling blocks, and have admitted defeat.
