TWO porpoises were spotted in difficulties at the mouth of the River Teign off Shaldon over the weekend.

Two kayakers tried to rescue the pair, but without much success on Sunday.

One of the creatures was later spotted washed up on the riverside at Wear Farm, Bishopsteignton, on Monday morning.
