Teignmouth Community School has emerged as the district's best publicly-funded provision when it comes to the percentage of students making expected progress in maths and English.

The good news for the 1,063 student campus was revealed in the Department for Education's 2011 Performance Tables.

Nationally 71.8 per cent achieved the required targets for English; at Teignmouth the figure was 82 per cent.
