MEMBERS of the Teignmouth Mutual Aid Group have been hard at work, preparing for their latest project, a community larder.

Jackie Jackson, organiser, Teignmouth Mutual Aid, says: ‘It is a bit different from a foodbank, in that you do not need to be referred by a professional, and can just come to the larder, if you are having financial difficulty which affects your ability to buy food.

‘The Larder can also signpost to other help and support.’

It opened at The Meadow Centre, Kingsway, in Teignmouth, on Wednesday, July22, between 10am and noon and will open at these times each Wednesday thereafter.

‘People who are having difficulty affording food can drop in and we will be able to help them.

‘Lots has been happening to set it all up!’

18 volunteers, who will help on Wednesday Larder mornings, were trained, and covered safety for visitors and for volunteers

‘So much work has been done by so many volunteers, and we are truly amazed at the generosity and kindness they have shown.

‘We hope we will be able to help people who are finding this time difficult.’
