FOUR Devon engineering projects - including the £5m Starcross and Cockwood Tidal Defence Scheme - have been shortlisted for a People’s Choice Award in the South West.

Members of the public have until this Sunday (June 9) to vote for their favourite.

County rivals in the running for the South West Civil Engineering Awards are the Slapton Line Reconstruction, the Cowley Bridge Flood Alleviation just outside Exeter and the Totnes Flood Defence Improvements.

Altogether a 14-strong regional shortlist has been drawn up by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) which each year celebrates the best in design, construction and engineering.

Regional Director Miranda Housden said: ‘Our annual civil engineering awards promote excellence and draw attention to some of the fantastic work carried out by engineers to support communities across the region.

‘The People’s Choice Award gives local people an opportunity to vote for their favourite project and the one they believe deserves to win.’

The winner will be announced on June 27 at the Institution of Civil Engineers Awards Dinner 2019 in Bristol.
