TEIGNMOUTH'S only nightclub can continue to trade throughout the summer despite calls from the police to keep the doors closed.
On Thursday last week, the owners of Kools, Northumberland Place, were granted three temporary licences to allow the 350-capacity venue to open Friday and Saturday nights until a permanent arrangement can be considered.
Another application, for last weekend, was rejected as it had been filed too late.
Members of Teignbridge Council's licensing sub-committee heard claims that Kools' customers were putting too great a strain on limited police officer numbers.
