THERE have been close to 1,500 reports of indecent exposure in the past five years, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has revealed.
Between April 1, 2020 and November 6, 2025, there were 1,499 reports of indecent exposure made to Devon & Cornwall Police, the FOI request shows.
Of the 1,499 reports, 1,362 resulted in a crime.
The number of reports has increased year on year since 2020.
In 2020 there were 143 reports, compared to 335 in 2025.
Indecent exposure (legally called just 'exposure' and sometimes known as 'flashing') is when someone deliberately exposes their genitals in order to frighten or upset someone else.
Men and women can both commit indecent exposure.
It can happen in public or in private.
