RESIDENTS were quick to spot that a landmark Teignmouth church clock was playing up.

The timepiece at St James' Church had kept good time for more than 100 years, but recently began showing its age.

Church authorities called in experts, who found the problems.

But it will cost about £10,000 for long-term repairs that should keep it going into the next century, and now an appeal has been launched for funds.<
