ST GREGORY’S Church in Dawlish remains closed after a large glass panel inside smashed.
One of the large glass panels in the upper Narthex of the Grade II listed church just hours before the Easter Sunday service.
For safety reasons, the church has had to remain closed with no access permitted while the situation is being assessed and made safe.
Services have subsequently been moved to St Mary’s Hall in Dawlish Warren.
But during the recent road closure in Dawlish, the only services nearby were in Holcombe, Starcross or Cofton.
All midweek services, events and groups have been cancelled until further notice.
This has affected meetings of the choir, music group, Mothers’ Union as well as mother and toddler group and the church’s bell ringers.
Church wardens Leena Halse and Richard Such said: ‘Thank you for your patience and understanding.’
At the time of the incident, a church spokesman said there was no explanation as to how it had happened.
Rev’d Linda Cronin added: ‘Thankfully no one was there at the time.’
