FIREFIGHTERS from Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh were called into action over the weekend following reports of a chimney fire.
Fire crews were called to the Sigford area on Sunday, May 3.
Crews used a ladder to administer water from above, while also attacking it from the fireplace recess below.
A spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said: ‘As this was a very old property there were some wooden joists that penatrated the chimney breast and had become involved which meant an access hole had to be made into the chimney on the first floor to enable the fire in the joists to be cut away.
‘This was a lengthy process with crews returning home in the early hours of this morning (Monday, May 4)’.
