PUB chain Wetherspoon has finally been given the go-ahead to open in Teignmouth.
And the town's traders' chief has welcomed the arrival, saying it would attract more people to the resort, benefiting most other Teignmouth businesses. The multiple will spend almost £1.6 million converting the former Tiggs store in Station Road, creating up to 45 jobs. Work should start soon.
The pub will be called the Jolly Brise, after a famous old pilot cutter with strong local connections.
Mike Jackman, chairman of the traders' association, was optimistic, and predicted it would encourge more people to come to Teignmouth.
