PASSING through...a lonesome traveller, his faithful pooch and an accommodating beast of burden cut an incongruous picture in the modern world as they negotiate the tumultuous traffic of Newton Abbot.
Driver Alan Cooch, his horse called Hoof and the anonymous Jack Russell ambled through the noise and chaos of Wolborough Street on their way to Cornwall last week. The threesome had made their way from the village of Gnossall in Staffordshire where district community first responders will benefit from the funds the trio are raising on their behalf.
Their ‘justgiving’ website has so far attracted donations beyond £700, well in sight of the £1,000 target they are setting themselves by the time they reach Poldark country. Anyone minded to contribute to the cause can do so on www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alancooch
