A NEWTON Abbot charity shop volunteer has raised more than £2,000 for the Bowelbabe Fund by walking the Cotswold Way.

Garry Kendall, from Abbotskerswell, raised a grand total of £2,022 for Cancer Research UK’s fund.

Garry, who volunteers at the charity’s Kids Emporium on Courtenay Street, walked more than 100 miles across five days.

‘I was going to do it for my own pleasure, but my wife suggested I do it as a fundraiser for the shop’ Garry said.

‘I stayed at pubs and hotels along the way, it was quite warm, very sunny and apart from sore feet - it was great’ Garry added.

The Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK was set up to continue the legacy of Dame Deborah James, who died aged 40 after being diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer.
