TEN-YEAR-OLD Hannah Scott won a competition to design central Devon MP Mel Stride’s Christmas card.

The Tedburn St Mary primary school pupil’s efforts of a picture of two penguins in the snow captured the imagination of the MP who sends out more than 1,000 cards every year.

This is the third year he has opened up the competition to all 43 primary schools in his constituency.

The cards are sent to organisations Mr Stride has visited during the previous 12 months as well as friends and family.

He said: ‘The standard of entries was very high with some wonderful cards not able to make it into the top three.

‘It was great that so many schools got involved and it certainly makes the task of sending out so many cards much more fun.’

Hannah has been notified of her win and Mr Stride will be visiting her at school in the new year to thank her personally.
