A PET cat was savaged by a dog at Teignmouth in front of his distraught elderly owners and fatally injured.

Shar, a four-year-old Siamese, was relaxing in the garden of his Meadow Rise home when a large grey lurcher burst through a hedge and attacked him.

He died six days later from the injuries, despite attempts by a vet to keep him alive.

It has left Gladys and Eric Pope heartbroken, and with a veterinary bill of more than £1,000.

Now the couple and their family are trying to track down the killer dog, and have appealed for help from anybody who might be able to help with information.
