WHAT a mess, but it was all in a good cause.

When Cllr Rosie Dawson’s daughter Kitty decided she wanted to raise money for the Homeless in Teignbridge Support (HITS) charity she roped her mum in to lend a hand with an important role.

As well as helping homeless, the charity runs a food bank in Dawlish.

In order to raise funds, Kitty packed paper cones with birdseed, which she sold for £1.50 each, and she set herself a target of £100.

If she failed to reach that £100 targe she would be gunged by her mum. However, if she reached her target, mum agreed to be on the receiving end.

Mum might have lost out, but HITS proved to be the winners, as Kitty exceeded her target and raised a total of £120.

A gunged Rosie said: ‘What started out as innocently selling birdseed to raise money, escalated to this green, slimy, snotty mess!

‘Huge thanks to everyone who has donated £120 so far. We are really proud of our daughter Kitty, who is always keen to help others.’
