IT’S been the perfect weather for the start of Teignmouth carnival week. The sun has not always shone, but neither has it rained much either, as a parched-looking Den testifies.
It meant that not so many were down on the beach, and instead headed for The Den to take in the delights of the carnival events and the travelling fair.
‘It’s been really good for us and it is great to see so many people milling around enjoying the fun. Everybody seems in good spirits,’ said a carnival spokesman.
It all kicked off on Saturday, with the opening by Cllr June Green, chairman of the finance and general purposes committee, who also crowned the carnival royalty, the queen Courtney Tribble, princess Kirsty Hook, and attendant Jaime Peterson.
