A BIG campaign to tackle the scourge of dog fouling on streets and parks in Teignmouth is about to be launched.

Posters will be plastered around the town and residents encouraged to report offending owners to the district council or police.

'Doug fouling is a major issue for many people, as many of us discovered while canvassing at the last elections,' declared Cllr Paul Burgess.

'The only messages being displayed at the moment are general warning notices on lamp posts, which in reality are having little effect.

'By working together we can mount a campaign to help reduce dog fouling, which is not only unpleasant, but dangerous.'

The initiative will be launched on Saturday, September 10, at the Triangle, and is a partnership between the town and district councils, traders and residents.
