CRIME rates in Teignmouth have plummeted – and the CCTV system has a lot to do with it.
Praise has been heaped on the surveillance cameras by police and councillors, and town clerk Dave Tickell reckons it is one of the best system in the south west.
In the last 12 months, crime in Teignmouth and Dawlish has dropped by about 19 per cent, and detection rates have also improved.
The CCTV system has now been upgraded and the control centre re-located close to the new Wellington Street 'cop shop'.
