Lottery-funded projects in Teignbridge are being urged to apply for a National Lottery Award. And residents are invited to nominate a favourite.
The area is being targeted to enter this year’s awards, as there have been no award winners from Devon in the last decade.
The National Lottery Awards is an annual search for the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects. Anyone can nominate a project. Nominated projects must complete an entry form by April 7. Shortlisted projects will compete in a round of public voting later this year.
Jackie O’Sullivan, of the National Lottery, said: ‘There are some incredible examples of Lottery-funded projects in Devon, who more than deserve to be celebrated nationwide.
‘The National Lottery is doing special work to encourage entrants from Devon - so don’t miss the opportunity to nominate a local project that deserves recognition.’
Award winners receive a £3,000 cash prize and national recognition at a glittering ceremony broadcast on BBC One. Any organisation that has ever received National Lottery funding can enter.
Devon has received £438 million in Lottery funding, including £617,000 to Children’s Hospice South West; £838,000 to South West Wildlife Trusts; and £2.8 million to restore Castle Drogo
The awards cover seven categories - sport, heritage, arts, environment, health, education and voluntary. There’s also a special achievement award to recognise an outstanding contribution made by an individual to improving the lives of others.
