NEWTON Abbot Young Farmers’ Club have had a busy few weeks preparing for the next Young Farmers year.

Last Tuesday evening they held their annual meeting at Liverton Village Hall, elected their new officers and president ahead of the new year.

They invited their chosen club charities for the previous year – the Farming Crisis Network and the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Throughout the year the YFC held a variety of fundraisers, such as bingo night, a tractor run and a big breakfast, meaning they managed to present both charities with a respectable cheque. 

As the new Young Farmers year commences, they kicked off with their first public speaking event on Monday night. Newton Abbot YFC had two teams go up against many other clubs within the South Dartmoor group.

wAll members who competed on the ‘Call My Bluff’ competition did an amazing job.

Following this event, they held a club social in the form of a bowling night. Some 25 members gathered at ten pin bowling in Exeter to have a fun filled night and get together.

A YFC Spokesperson said: ‘We look forward to welcoming many new members into our club this year and running many successful events and fundraisers!’
