A FORMER dusty warehouse has been transformed into a creative co-working space by three Dawlish women.

The Good Space, co-founded by three local freelance designers, offers a relaxed and stylish sanctuary where work meets wellbeing.

Founders Amy Beech, Kate Huggard and Amy Walker have been working remotely in creative industries for many years.

Delivering work for the likes of Selfridges, Tommee Tippee, and Next from their homes in Dawlish, they realised there was nowhere nearby for them to go where they could take their work, meet other creatives, in a shared workspace filled with like-minded creative freelancers.

They have taken over a two-floor, former furniture warehouse on Exeter Road, next to Lady’s Mile Holiday Park.

Initially a grubby unit under a centimetre of dust, Amy, Kate and Amy put their flair for design into the space, turning it into an airy haven with soft peach walls, local artwork, living plants and a help-yourself coffee bar.

Downstairs is a meeting and events space with a large family-style table and upstairs are 11 large co-working desks under a high ceiling.

The idea comes as following the pandemic, more professionals are working from home.

The Good Space has been created to offer a working retreat for those needing to connect with others, work in a new inspiring space and re-energise.

It is now open Tuesday to Thursday with desks available to book online by the day.

The flexible space will also host regular events, with tickets currently on sale for July and August including ‘Founders Happy Hour’ - a monthly talk and relaxed networking event.

Users can unwind at a half day yoga retreat hosted by Tide Yoga, attend a Gong Bath with Inner Space Sounds, or a candle painting workshop.

Co-Founder Amy said: ‘Our vision is to create a place that feels like home.

‘We want The Good Space to feel like a place you can work, gather and play.

‘A community space to hire, where you can come and do your morning yoga, power through your work day in company and then unwind at a creative workshop with friends.

‘We are all professional creatives and feel that there is nowhere in our town that represents us, the middle-aged professional generation in Dawlish who are flexi-working, running our own business and juggling family life with a brilliant career.

‘The space has been designed to be flexible, so we can seek the needs of the local community and create something valuable in our town that grows and evolves into a well-loved hub over years to come.’

Martin Wrigley, MP for Newton Abbot said: ‘I am delighted to see new ideas coming to life in Dawlish, and generating new ways for local business owners to connect and thrive.

‘We are home to a great number of professionals, who may be working in businesses local to the area or providing services to companies all over the UK.

‘The Good Space is set to offer them a valuable hub in our community for connection and work.’
