BUCKLAND Athletic Football?Club has revealed its big plans for the next ten years.

Formed in 1977 purely as a junior club, it started life at Sandringham Park on the Buckland Estate.

Since then things have progressed year on year and has seen the club move from Homers Lane, Kingsteignton, to fantastic facilities at Homers Heath, Kingskerswell.

The club has always looked to progress, with much of the success being down to the amazing volunteers who have built the club – quite literally! – over the years.

Last month, the club gave a presentation on its plans for the next ten years to an audience including the FA, the chairman of the Western League, Teignbridge and Newton Abbott councillors, sponsors and prospective sponsors.

The event was a success, with support coming from many areas.

In the short term, the club’s aim is to gain promotion to the Southern League South and West.

Promotion would more travelling for away games, but will provide fixtures against teams such as Tiverton Town, Taunton Town and Bridgwater.

Before this can become a reality, some areas of the ground need improvement.

A 1.83m fence needs to be erected along the side of the car park; a shorter fence at the bottom of the bank either side of the grandstand; turnstiles; outside toilets; extra seating, and another covered area need to be installed.

The club has a crowdfunder page which can be accessed from the Devon FA website with a Buckland FC link.

Long term, the plans are for an all-weather surface to be installed on the pitch behind the grandstand, certainly exciting times for all involved.

Buckland are trying to forge ahead with bringing the highest level of football to the area, with this in mind the club is trying to bring as many local businesses on board as possible, with more than 45 having already pledged support.

Former first team captain Ben Williamson and his company Kastner Volvo Exeter are just one company who are more than happy to get involved with such a progressive family club.
