It is 6am and an odd quiet has fallen over Horse Guards Parade.
It is day two of the Olympics and those of us who faced day one are enjoying the peace before the spectators arrive.
Those who are facing their first shift are trying to wake up with large mugs of coffee and a bacon butty. Once again we are all excited.
A week later, day nine, and the scene is much the same though, thankfully, we have moved to afternoon only shifts.
The excitement is still high; people are still relying on coffee and every person I have talked to has loved every single minute of it.
