The old and rusty bomb – not considered to be a threat – was taken away by the Bomb Disposal team at around 4pm today.
The 300m police cordon which was set up to protect the public from the risk of falling debris has been stood down.
The exclusion zone was from the Bay Hotel, Teignmouth to The Point car park, after the bomb was found on the beach in front of the Lighthouse, earlier this afternoon.
An onlooker said: ‘The Police operation was superbly done. People were allowed to get to the cars and their homes, but the cordon was set up to protect the public from the possible fall out from debris.
