PRESENTATIONS for the Kingsteignton in Bloom Competition were held at the Old Rydon Inn.
Kingsteignton Mayor, Councillor Ron Peart, assisted by Councillor Martin Field and town clerk Mrs Carol Lakin, made the presentations to first, second and third prize winners.
Cllr Peart, thanked everybody for taking part in this year’s competition and said: ‘It has been an extremely challenging year with the heatwave conditions that we have all experienced, it has made a lot more work keeping up with the watering and dead heading, so well done to you all.
‘It is always a pleasure to see such beautiful gardens within our town.’
First prize winners of each category received a cup, garden centre voucher and certificate.
Second and third prize winners received a garden centre voucher and a certificate.
The overall winner of the ‘Best Garden’ of the competition was won by Mrs Lee Denmead who also took first prize in three other categories.
Judges declares it was a truly outstanding garden which has been created from a bare plot on one of the new developments.
Following the presentation, a light buffet was served in the barn and enjoyed by all who attended.
The judging of the gardens by Mayor, Ron Peart and Cllr Martin Field, took place over consecutive daysin July, in extremely hot temperatures.
Town clerk, Mrs Lakin accompanied them to take the photographs.
Kingsteignton Town Council were extremely pleased to have received entries from a lot of residents who had never entered the competition before, as well as several entrants who had entered in past years.
Entries are welcomed from anybody in Kingsteignton, whether it is just one hanging basket or container or your whole garden.
It is hoped that the 2023 Kingsteignton in Bloom Competition will attract many entries again next year.
