BLACK swan parents Bert and Kimba are busy looking after the four eggs which have been laid in their third and final nesting site.
The couple are taking it in turns to incubate the eggs which means they have finished laying this latest clutch.
They are settled now on the nest on the purpose-built island on the Brook at Tuck’s Plot.
This third location followed two other sites where one egg had been laid but either taken, possibly by gulls, or abandoned.
Now they are happily sitting on this site where they have previously successfully bred.
The owners of holiday accommodation Pilchard Cottage who took this video said: ‘Whilst Bert was caring for the nest, his wife Kimba was further upstream near Gay’s Creamery enjoying some tasty treats from local admirers.’
Bert and Kimba will take it in turns to keep the eggs warm until they hatch, which will likely be in around five or six weeks.
Gates to the pathways near the nesting site have been closed off for the birds safety.
Meanwhile, a second pair of Black Swans are also currently nesting on an island higher up the Brook.
