THE Bishop of Crediton made a good impression when she popped into a Teignmouth church at the weekend.

The Right Rev Dame Sarah Mullally spent about two hours at a St Michael’s Church coffee morning on Saturday, and made a good impression on all who attended.

The rector of Teignmouth, the Rev Roderick Withnell, was delighted and said the visit went ‘very well’.

‘She is a very sociable and easy person to talk to, and she enjoyed talking to everybody. It was really good to have her here.’

The coffee morning was in aid of the HITS charity that helps homeless and others who have hit hard times in Teignbridge, and will share the donations from the coffee morning with the group raising the awareness of credit unions.

Bishop Mullally is regarded as one of the high fliers in the Church of England, and some are even tipping her as a future Archbishop of Canterbury. A former chief nursing officer at the Department of Health, she has quickly risen through the ranks since being ordained, and was also made a Dame Commander of the Order of The British Empire in recognition of her contributions to midwifery and nursing.
