Bikers pay tribute with funeral convoy

BIKERS and villagers in Exminster turned out in force to pay tribute to a popular father, biker and musician.

Up to 100 fellow bikers joined in a convoy in honour of fellow biker Sam Strachan who died aged 32 in a collision near Exeter.

Crowds lined the village streets to pay tribute to Sam who worked at Exminster Garage with his dad and brother James.

Sam’s Memorial Bike Ride started at the garage where his hearse, a motorbike sidecar, left the forecourt to Exeter Crematorium for the final ride out.

There were emotional scenes at Devington Park where the riders gathered to join the procession.

A spokesman for Exminster Post Office said: ‘It was a spectacular event, sad and joyous at the same time. A fantastic final good bye.’

A Go Fund Me page has raised almost £8,000 for Sam’s family.

It said: ‘Anyone who knew Sam knew what a genuinely lovely person he was.

‘He was a devoted husband, a super dad to his children, a much-loved son and brother, and the kind of friend people could always rely on.

‘His additional garage family, friends, and customers will all miss his humour, kindness, and the light-hearted chaos he brought with him every day.

‘Sam loved his motorbikes, and anyone who saw him talking about riding knew how much happiness it brought him.

‘A devoted husband, a proud daddy, a cherished brother, and a beloved son, Sam’s love for his family was at the heart of everything he did.

‘Music was in his soul. As a drummer, he had a passion for rhythm that reflected his vibrant spirit.

‘Behind the camera, he captured life's special moments as a talented videographer, preserving memories that will be treasured forever.

‘He also had a love of bikes and found joy in the freedom of every ride.’
