TEIGNMOUTH councillors are drawing up a blueprint to boost the economy of the town during the economic downturn.They also want to try to help traders deal with the arrival of the new Morrisons supermarket at Broadmeadow, which some see as a threat, but others regard as an opportunity to bring more people into the town.Cllr Terry Falcao quoted the findings of a recent report on the future of the high street, by retail guru, Mary Portas.He feared that shops would be lost, and 'the heart of our community ripped out'.'We must do everything we can to help them, and help traders survive when Morrisons opens. 'We want to attract more people to Teignmouth, and to encourage our traders to talk to us.'One of his suggestions included reducing car parking charges, especially for residents.
