CHURCH bells rang out across Teignmouth on Wednesday to celebrate the christening of the future king.

As the ceremony for Prince George, third in line to throne, took place in St James's Palace, London, a band of eight top ringers from across Devon began an ambitious peal of more than 5,000 changes at St Michael's Church.

It took them about three hours, and the rector of Teignmouth, Preb Graham Stones, described it as 'a joyous occasion'.

'I am sure the people of Teignmouth will have wanted to share in this historic occasion and will have enjoyed hearing the bells.
