FRESH attempts will be made in the next few days to try to salvage the stricken trawler Girl Rona, lying on her side off Teignmouth beach.
Strenuous efforts by the harbour boat Teign C to tow her from the sandbar failed, and now a team of experts has taken over the job and expect to start work soon.
The capsizing of the boat as she returned to port with a catch of fish on Monday lunchtime, has again vividly brought home the perils of fishing, and why it is the most dangerous occupation in the UK.
Just over a year ago Teignmouth was in mourning for the loss of another fishing boat, the Etoile Des Ondes which was run down by a tanker in the channel, with the loss of one crewman. Three others survived.
