POLICE have today, Monday, appealed for witnesses to an attempted robbery on Newton Abbot to come forward.

The attempted robbery happened on Sunday, March 12, and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: ‘It was reported the victim was approached by a man who threatened him and demanded he hand over his phone between 8.30pm and 9pm on Highweek Road, Newton Abbot.

‘The suspect is reported to have been seen in Market Street, Highweek Street and Exeter Road.

‘It is believed that a number of members of the pubic were outside Newton’s Free House, in Highweek Road, who may have witnessed or have information about the incident.

‘The suspect is described as a white male, of slim build and 5ft 10in tall.

‘He was wearing a black beanie hat, black North Face mask, grey North Face puffa jacket, black baggy tracksuit bottoms, blue and white Nike Up-Tiempo trainers and was carrying a blue vape.
