Police in Teignmouth have warned women not to walk alone at night or in unlit areas after an alleged serious sexual assault in the town.

The incident is said to have occurred in Buckeridge Road on Saturday, November 19, between 4.30am - 5.30am. Details have only just been released.

A woman claimed she was assaulted by a white man, about 6ft tall of medium build with dark hair. He is believed to be in his twenties, wore jeans and a dark coloured coat. He walked away down Buckeridge Road toward the town centre. 

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen either the victim or suspect.
