A TEIGNBRIDGE animal charity has launched its Christmas box appeal to make sure the animals in its care have a special day.

Animals In Distress at Ipplelpen is hoping for donations of boxes of goodies for the dogs, cats and other animals which will spend Christmas in rescue to enjoy on Christmas Day.

A spokesman said: ‘If you’d like to donate a box of goodies for the animals to open on Christmas day, we would be really grateful for your support.

‘Thank you for your amazing support, as always, at Christmas and all throughout the year – we literally could not do this without you.’

Donated goodies can be put in a box which should be marked which which type of animal, dogs, cat, rabbits or guinea pigs.

Filled boxes can be dropped off at the rescue centre

any day between 10am and 4pm or taken to any of the our charity shops by 20th December.

The spokesman added: ‘The animals will get to open it on Christmas morning and we will show you the photos of them enjoying their gifts.’

For dogs, the box can include treats, strong harnesses, double ended leads, toys and tennis balls.

For cats, it can include fleece blankets, small puzzle bowls, brushes and toys.

And for rabbits, the box could contain wicker toys and tunnels, grass mats, edible houses, guinea pig cosy pouches and chew tubes.
