A PILE of what appears to be building materials has been dumped on a road near Ashburton.
The incident of fly-tipping, which is defined as the illegal dumping of waste, was discovered on Friday, February 7 on a section of the road between River Dart Country Park and Pear Tree.
Teignbridge District Council, who are responsible for collecting fly-tipping from public land, has been contacted regarding the incident, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.
A criminal offence, fly-tippers can be fined up to £50,000 in Magistrates’ Courts and face unlimited fines in higher courts, as well as community punishment orders or prison sentences of up to five years.
