TWO Teignmouth sailors who came third in a world sailing championship were honoured by their home club.
Malcolm and Fiona Davies took part in the Tasar fleet World Championships in Torbay, and were also the highest placed UK boat and the World Masters champions.
During a presentation evening at Teign Corinthian Yacht Club, they were given a framed print of themselves racing.
Members gathered to celebrate the achievements of the dinghy and cruiser racers, and the Cruising for Fun group in the past year.
The other stars of the year were Grant Simmons, sailing Apache, and Stuart Palmer, sailing Redshank, taking home the majority of the trophies in the cruisers' section. The awards were presented by Peter Harvey, rear commodore cruisers.
The fun cruising fleet takes part in social trips to West Country, Solent and Channel Island ports, and prizes are awarded for such novelties as a limerick competition, a boules tournament, and even going aground.
Dinghy racing is hotly contested at Coombe Cellars, on the River Teign, throughout the year, with handicap, solo and cadet fleets, and the trophies were presented by Peter Hearne, rear commodore dinghies.
The solo fleet was dominated by James Stephenson, in Markinka, and trophies also went to Peter Hearne, Andy Collyer and John Davey.
Prizewinners in the handicap fleet included Buzz Barrows and Nick Clarance in Finns, Mike Commander in a Laser, and Paul Craft in a RS Vareo.
The under-18 cadet fleet is growing fast, with many youngsters progressing from RYA training courses through to club racing.
Ben Flower made a great impact this year, winning trophies in both the cadet and adult fleets.
The dinghies continue to sail at Coombe Cellars during the winter, and new members are always welcome.
