A SECTION of the A382 near Newton Abbot will be closed for two weeks from Monday, June, 22.
The road will be completely closed between Greycoat Lane/Staplehill Road and Whitehill Cross, as part of the ongoing upgrade of the link between Newton Abbot and the A38 at Drumbridges roundabout.
The closure will enable two culverts to be installed under the road. The road will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, although access will be maintained for residents only.
A signed diversion will be in place via the A383 Bickington, the old A38 and onto the A382 Stover, and vice versa.
As well as realigning and widening the road, the upgrade scheme will also develop a new roundabout at Ringslade Road, and a new pedestrian and cycle path to encourage sustainable travel to and from the town.
This first phase of the A382 widening scheme, which aims to improve safety and unlock economic growth, is being funded by Devon County Council, the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (HotSWLEP) and Teignbridge District Council.
Contractor Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd, is carrying out the work on behalf of Devon County Council.
