TEIGNMOUTH Town Council has agreed to help local traders decorate the town with bunting and flags for the St George's Festival.
The traders want to flood the resort with appropriate flags from April 16 to May 3, to celebrate St George's Day, which is on April 23, along with the Royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29.
The two organisations will co-operate to make the festival, aimed at attracting more trade into the town, a success.
Eastcliff Care proprietor Iain Palmer outlined the programme, which includes a medieval society encampment with shows, the Grimspound Morris dancing team, children's fancy dress and painting competitions on the Den, a St George's folk night at the Devon Arms, a medieval banquet at the Oystercatcher, jazz at the South Pacific, a tea party on the Den along with an Edwardian walk along the prom, street musicians and a best dressed window display.
Cllr Don Baldey, chairman of the finance and general purposes committee, said: 'We would all like to see this happen. It will be a great fortnight for visitors and locals.'
