A 56-YEAR-OLD woman was rescued after falling near cliffs between Shaldon and Labrador Bay.

Coastguards and the volunteer lifeboat crew from Exmouth were called in to help with the rescue.

The woman had called for help, leading to coastguard rescue teams and the police swinging into action, as well as the RNLI, which began a close search of the shoreline in the area the woman described.

The coastguard rescue team located her on top of the cliff location and assessed her injuries.

The casualty was left in the care of the other specialist rescue services and the RNLI all weather lifeboat returned to Exmouth Lifeboat Station where it was back on service a short time later.
