TWO men in their 20s were rushed to hospital - one with a stab wound to the head - after violence erupted at an address in Newton Abbot this morning. (thurs)
A fleet of police cars crowded Paynsford Road and surrounding streets after reports at 9am that a group of adults were involved in a major bust-up.
Armed police and paramedics attended the scene where three men, aged 33, 21 and 18, and a 42-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Police confirmed they were dealing with a ‘serious assault’ at the address involving several people.
One man suffered a stab wound to the head while the other casualty also received a head wound.
Both were aged 25.
A police spokesman said this afternoon: ‘Their injuries are not currently thought to be life-threatening – but they were taken to hospital.’
He revealed that that 33-year-old man detained was from Torquay for alleged GBH. The younger men, and the woman, were local to Newton Abbot.
All are currently in police custody.
The 33-year-old Bay man was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and false imprisonment.
The 21-year-old from Newton Abbot was detained on suspicion of GBH with intent and the 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of GBH and false imprisonment.
Officers remain at the scene which, at the height of the drama, involved some six police units and the force helicopter hovering overhead.
