A DRIVER has died police have confirmed overnight in the accident that closed the A38 in both directions between Buckfastleigh and Ashburton yesterday evening (Sunday).

Police, fire and ambulance crews and the Devon Air Ambulance attended the scene on the Exeter-bound carriage just after 4.30pm yesterday.A police spokesperson said this morning: 'At 17:12 hours on Sunday police were notified of a single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred on the Exeter Bound A38 dual carriageway between Dart Bridge and Ashburton.'As a result of the collision, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The road was closed while a forensic examination took place.'Any witnesses to the collision who haven’t already spoken to police are asked to contact the police on 101 quoting Log 704 – 18th October 2020, especially if you have any Dashcam footage. 'Police would like to thank the members of the public for their patience whilst we investigated the scene.'
