FIRE crews from Newton Abbot had a very early morning shout to a property fire in Kingsteignton today (Sat Dec 16th).

Two pumps were dispatched to a property in Vicarage Hill at around 1.30am following reports of smoke coming from beneath floorboards.

A Devon and Somerset Fire ad Rescue spokesman said: “ On arriving at the scene firefighters confirmed that there was a small fire involving timbers under the floor that connected to the fire place.”

“Crews used a thermal image camera and small tools to cut away one timber joist, and a positive pressure fan was used to clear the smoke.”

The cause of the fire was accidental.
